This six-day itinerary begins in Phnom Penh, the riverfront capital where colonial architecture meets surviving Khmer culture, before flying north to Siem Reap, gateway to the Angkor Archaeological Park. At Angkor you will walk through corridors that took thousands of workers decades to build, watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat's iconic spires, and visit a local NGO circus project at Angkor Thom that gives Cambodian children a future in performance arts. Depart Nairobi on your international flight to Phnom Penh. On arrival, our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to Raffles Le Royal or similar. Check in and rest after the journey. The rest of the day is at leisure.
A full day guided tour of Phnom Penh with your English-speaking Cambodian guide. Visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, home to the Emerald Buddha and a floor laid with over 5,000 silver tiles. Continue to the National Museum for Cambodia's finest collection of Khmer sculpture, then explore the riverfront promenade and the Central Market. Meals as specified. Overnight at Raffles Le Royal or similar.
Fly from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap on your included economy class flight and transfer to FCC Angkor Hotel or similar. After check-in, head to Angkor Wat, the 12th-century complex that remains the largest religious monument ever built. Walk the long causeway as the towers rise ahead of you, explore the inner galleries lined with bas-relief carvings, and climb to the upper terrace at sunset. Meals as specified. Overnight at FCC Angkor or similar.
Morning visit to Angkor Thom, the last great capital of the Khmer Empire. Enter through the South Gate flanked by gods and demons, and stand before the Bayon's 54 towers, each carved with four giant stone faces. Visit the Elephant Terrace and Baphuon temple before an evening at Phare, the Cambodian Circus, an NGO project that trains young Cambodians in circus arts and uses performance to tell stories of the country's recovery. A free day to explore Siem Reap at your own pace. Options include a morning boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake, Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake and home to floating villages, a visit to the Angkor National Museum, browsing Psar Chaa Old Market for silk and handicrafts, or returning to a favourite temple in the early morning light. Meals as specified. Overnight at FCC Angkor or similar.
Transfer to Siem Reap International Airport for your return flight to Nairobi. Our representative will assist with departure formalities.
