Tanzania's northern circuit in full, seven nights across five extraordinary parks.
This tour starts and ends in Arusha, with road transfers between all locations. Central Serengeti is the farthest point, 7 hours from Arusha each way. To save drive time, you can fly directly into Central Serengeti where your safari vehicle and guide will be waiting. We will reroute the itinerary to cover all parks included in the original itinerary with the same choice of accommodations and the same number of nights. This is called a Fly-in Safari. Alternatively, we can reroute so that you drive from Arusha on Day 1, cover the other parks first, then end at Central Serengeti, flying out from there to Arusha or other cities. This is called a Fly-out Safari. Depart Kilimanjaro International Airport in your 4×4 Land Cruiser and head to Arusha National Park for your first game drive. The park sits in the shadow of Mount Meru and is home to giraffe, buffalo, zebra, warthog, and a remarkable diversity of birdlife. Overnight at your Arusha lodge.
After breakfast, drive west along the base of the Rift Valley escarpment to Lake Manyara National Park. Set beneath towering cliffs, the park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, vast flocks of flamingos, hippo pools, and lush groundwater forests. An afternoon game drive along the lake shore. Overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge.
An early start and a long but rewarding drive into the heart of Tanzania. Pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend onto the Serengeti plains, one of the most iconic landscapes on earth. Arrive at Acacia Seronera Luxury Camp in time for an evening game drive. Overnight at the camp on full board.
A full day game driving in Central Serengeti around the Seronera Valley, the Serengeti's prime wildlife corridor. Morning and afternoon game drives searching for the Big Five. Excellent year-round game viewing with lion, leopard, elephant, and vast herds of wildebeest and zebra. Overnight at Acacia Seronera Luxury Camp.
A second full day in Central Serengeti. Explore different sections of the park with your guide, kopjes, river crossings, open grassland, and woodland edge. Optional hot air balloon ride at sunrise (extra cost, book in advance). Overnight at Acacia Seronera Luxury Camp.
Morning game drive before driving east back through the Serengeti and ascending to the Ngorongoro Crater rim. Check in at Lemala Ngorongoro Lodge with views over one of the world's most extraordinary natural formations. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a 5-hour game drive in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater supports one of the densest wildlife populations in Africa, lion, elephant, black rhino, hippo, wildebeest, and flamingos. Ascend in the afternoon and drive to Tarangire National Park. Overnight at Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge.
A final morning game drive in Tarangire, the park famous for its giant elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. Tarangire's dry-season concentrations of wildlife are among the most dramatic in Tanzania. After the game drive, drive back to Arusha. Drop-off at Kilimanjaro International Airport or your Arusha hotel.
