Two nights at a camp on full board, on or near the Ewaso Ng'iro River, with the reserve's Special Five, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and gerenuk, as the main draw alongside the more familiar predators. Samburu sits further from Nairobi than the Mara, so the drive up is the longest single leg of the trip. Once at camp, the pace slows down: two drives a day with a long break at midday.
